Electric Cars are the best way to preserve the environment when it comes to motorised transport. They create less pollution then fuel powered cars, and unlike hybrid cars, are completely run on electricity with an electric motor.

In an electric car, the electric motor gets its power from a controller and the controller gets its power from an array of rechargeable batteries. The controller acts as a regulator and controls the amount of power received from the batteries so that the motor does not burn out. Essentially, this means that when your vehicle is running, it is almost silent.

Electric vehicles use the power of magnetic induction to produce torque from the electric motor. The more electricity flowing through the motor, the more force it will generate. The charge of an electric vehicle usually only lasts for around 50 miles, making them useless to take on long trips. They are most suitable for short trips around town or to drive to work each day.

On the outside, they look exactly the same as a fuel powered vehicle. However, on the inside, under the bonnet, it is a completely different story. The usual fuel injected engine is replaced with an electric motor and a battery pack, making it easier to understand and control.

Electric cars represent a cleaner way to convert fossil fuels to automotive power. This alternative form of transport is becoming more accessible and popular with each passing day, and very soon we will be seeing a vast increase of them on our roads.
