Australia's Tallest Tower

What Is The Tallest Tower In Australia?

Australia has some fairly tall buildings but the tallest of these is currently Q1. This super tall skyscraper is located in Surfer's Paradise on Queensland's Gold Coast.

Q1 stands at 522.5 metres, with a roof height of 275 metres. This makes it the world's tallest residential tower and the tallest building in the Southern Hemisphere. In fact, it is currently the 25th tallest building in the world. Q1 is so high in fact, that it puts the other buildings in Surfers Paradise to shame, literally dwarfing them.

Q1 was inspired by the Sydney 2000 Olympic torch and the Sydney Opera House. It stands as a beacon of Australia's culture and history. The building was developed by the Sunland Groups and was built by Sunland Constructions. It is supported by 26 piles, each 2 metres in diameter that extend 4 metres into solid rock. Some could say it is an architectural masterpiece!

The building offers 80 floors of one, two and three bedroom apartment accommodation. Breathtaking 360 degree views abound, from the surf all the way to the hinterland. The apartments feature a spa bath, a chic and modern interior design, a gourmet kitchen, generous dining areas and unique balconies. Two lagoon pools back on ground make for a pleasant holiday experience or you can relax in the day spa while enjoying your stunning surrounds.

Perhaps the best thing about the building is the observation decks that strut out the side. The observation deck at floors 77 and 78 is one of the worlds best beachside observation decks, with spectacular views of Surfers Paradise and the rest of the Gold Coast beaches.

Since it is such a prominent building, it seems only fitting that it is constantly winning awards. In fact, in 2005 it received the Emporis Skyscraper Award, which is regarded as an excellent architectural achievement.
