The process of planning, manufacturing and distributing cars is a lengthy and detailed one. From the first inspiration to your drive away, a lot of thought, effort and money go into producing the world's most famous, unique and popular cars.
Planning starts 3 to 4 years in advance and goals are made with consideration of what customers will want and how society will change in the future. Careful attention must be paid to what people's lifestyles and preferences will be in the future.
Once these needs are determined sketches of the cars are prepared, with detail paid to the outside shape and inside shape and colour. After these sketches are finalised, computer generated 3D images are made and actual clay size models are made. From these models a single design is chosen and further designs are created for the interior and exterior furnishings. Designs are also created for the basic functions of the car such as the engine and brakes. Prototypes are then made to the design and different tests are performed to ensure the safety of the car.
The production of the car usually follows a standard process:
- Stamping - The steel sheet is cut according to the size of the part and is bent and cut in a stamping machine.
- Welding - The stamped parts are heated and melted to be joined together.
- Painting - The cars are painted with 3 coats.
- Making the Engine - Parts are made by casting and forging. These parts are then used to assemble the engine and suspension.
- Assembly - The parts are attached according to the customer's orders.
- Inspections - These are made on the brakes, windshield wipers and other parts.
Once all of these steps are completed, the cars are shipped to destinations around the world. They are then distributed for sale through the internet and car yards, and for hire through car rental companies.
