Trekking The Tucson Terrain

If you are seeking a blend of the cultures of the United States and Mexico, than Tucson, Arizona, is definitely the place to visit. Located 188 kilometres south-east of Phoenix and 98 kilometres North of the U.S.- Mexico border, Tucson is the largest city in South Arizona and the second largest in the state. There is a long history here of settlement by ancient Native American peoples, Spanish explorers and Anglo-frontiersmen. This gives the city a rich culture and heritage that is unprecedented.

The geography here is a postcard image of cactus, forests, rolling hills and awe-inspiring mountains. This makes it one of the best places to visit in the state and the perfect destination for your next driving holiday. There are several car rental depots in the area from which you can pick up your hired vehicle. Hiring a car really is the easiest way to enjoy your holiday in Tucson, as many of the most popular attractions are located outside of the city limits.

2. Trail Dust Town

A short drive out of town will allow you to step back in time and discover the highlights of Trail Dust Town. The collection of shops and eateries is a slice of 19th Century west and is the perfect way to experience the traditional cultures of this part of the country. The old town is home to board walks, an old-fashioned town square with shaded park benches, and a traditional gazebo in the centre of town to top it off.

While walking the streets of Trail Dust Town, enjoy the Dragoon Street Wild, Wild West Stunt Shows or take a ride on the Trail Dust Town Railroad. Take some time to visit the Museum of the Horse Soldier and pan for gold at the Gabby's Gulch.
