Nestled in the Snowy Mountains of New South Wales, Jindabyne is an idyllic village, in close proximity to major ski resorts, Thredbo and Perisher Blue. The small town is located just over 450 kilometres from Sydney and is situated 991 metres above sea level. Its location on the edge of World Heritage Listed Kosciuszko National Park makes it an ideal base for visitors who do not wish to stay in the actual snowfields.
Most people travel to Jindabyne during the winter months, to take part in the winter adventure that occurs at Thredbo. The unique mountain environment has cultural events and activities to suit all ages and is home to some of the country's highest mountains. Travelling by car to Thredbo is the best option because it means you get to travel along the Snowy Mountain Drive. This spectacular scenic route allows you to explore the region in all of its glory. There are adequate facilities to accommodate you with lessons and equipment, which ensures that your snow experience is an enjoyable one.
Surprisingly, not all of the winter adventures available involve frolicking in the snow. While visiting, you should definitely check out the Thredbo Leisure Centre, which offers a range of fitness activities, including an Olympic-sized pool (which is of course heated). Head back outdoors and you will find fishing, horse riding, quad biking and bike riding adventures waiting. Get the whole family involved, while enjoying the fresh, crisp, mountain air.

However, if it is fine dining you're after, you can't go past the award-winning Cuisine on Lake Crackenback. An al a carte menu, extensive wine array and open fireplace, along with the magnificent views, make it an unforgettable dining experience.
